Straights for Gay Rights

Celebrating Our 36th Year!

The group "Straights For Gay Rights" was founded in San Francisco in 1977 by Saralie Pennington to fight the Briggs' Initiative, a proposal put on the California State ballot by Sen. John Briggs, to prevent those individuals who were gay and/or supported gay rights from working in the public school system. The measure was defeated and our group has continued since that time to provide on-going ad hoc political/social support for the Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual and Transgender (GLBT) communities.

Our yearly presence in the annual Pride Parade and Celebration since 1977 is the visible focus of our support. This year marks our 36th appearance in the parade.

Please join us on Sunday, June 24th in San Francisco at this magnificant event and show your support for the GLBT community and for human rights.
